Hiking in Lana, Merano and Environs

to the overview

Walking is synonymous with meditation and contemplation. This isn’t surprising, as since ancient times there have been schools where learning has occurred through walking. In some cases, the object of the exercise is the walk itself. At Hotel Schwarzschmied, there is a combination of elements that have always been inextricably linked: walking in nature as a form of meditation in motion.
There are numerous hikes in the vicinity of Lana, situated at the mouth of the pristine Ulten Valley, situated on the eastern border of the Stelvio National Park, with its high mountain peaks and millennial larches of St. Gertraud.

Those preferring more relaxing hikes or family walks can retrace the ancient paths of the irrigation ditches above the Adige Valley. The Brandis and Marling irrigation channel trails passing above Lana are among the most spectacular family walks in South Tyrol.
Lovers of the mountains should also make a point of visiting Mount St. Vigilius, a high mountain plateau accessible in just a few minutes by cableway, where there is an absence of automotive traffic. There are magnificent, leisurely trails, such as to the Schwarze Lacke mountain lake, the Bärenbad mountain shelter amidst mineral springs, or to the Naturnser Alm pastures down to Aschbach or up to the Hochwart peak.
The Merano High Mountain Trail presents a magnificent spectacle suited to all passionate hikers. It surrounds the Texel Group Nature Park and crosses through the unique Alpine landscape where there are breath-taking views to enjoy.
