In Lana and its surroundings, you will find great opportunities for active recreation in winter. Mild winters invite you for easy hikes in Lana and Meran, or to explore nature in the unspoiled Mount St. Vigilius, while two top-class modern ski areas offer extensive active recreation for adults and children alike.
The two family ski resorts in the environs of Lana are Schwemmalm in Ulten Valley and the family ski area Merano 2000, located above the city of Meran. Schwemmalm offers a ski-kindergarten, while Merano 2000 has an entire program designed for kids in Lucki's Kinderland.
Ice skating, sledding and night-sledding by moonlight as well as winter hiking and snowshoeing are all possible in the area around Lana. Quiet old-fashioned winter strolls are also on offer in the car-free winter resort of Mt. St. Vigilus.
Spa facilities and water aerobics are provided at the Thermal Baths of Meran as well as in the Schwarzschmied spa area, where baths, massages, beauty treatments and sauna facilities are all on offer to help stimulate body and soul on cold winter days.
The small, family-friendly S. Vigilio ski area is both idyllic and authentic, and offers four ski lifts for its five kilometres of slopes.
The ski resort Schwemmalm is just a few minutes away from Lana. The bottom station of the Schwemmalm cable car is located in Pracupola/Kuppelwies.
The Merano 2000 ski area offers a total of 40 kilometres of runs for skiers and snowboarders, as well as a network of trails for winter hikers comprising 25 kilometres.
