Artist in Residence: Roberta Busato

Roberta Busato was an artist in residence at Villa Arnica from 2 to 9 October. The sculptor, who was born in Verona in 1976 and lives in Mantova, studied at the Carrara Academy. She became known for sculptures made of unfired clay. The choice of this natural material, rich in history and symbolism, and the refinement of a technical and creative process of decomposition and recomposition of form represent the two fundamental moments of her, deeply poetic, artistic work. During her residency, she worked in the spacious garden of Villa Arnica and let herself be influenced by the mood of the ambience, creating clay reliefs applied to clay bricks, with fine lines and intimate relationships between them - which in their expression tell of fundamental human relationships. As a trace and reminder of the artist's guest stay, a horse-head sculpture made of clay has since been on display at Villa Arnica.
