Artist in Residence: Tyra & Lucas Morten

Tyra Morten is a respected Swedish art director and photographer. Together with her partner Lucas Morten, she runs the renowned Atelier Lucas Morten, which is represented in renowned galleries such as Galerie Philia (international gallery for contemporary design and art), Atelier Ecru (Belgium) and Numeroventi (Florence, Italy). They create multi-dimensional limited edition artworks that capture the fragility of human life and its emotions. Their works redefine the boundaries of art and design and are known for their depth and uniqueness.

The artwork, created at the Hotel Schwarzschmied in Lana by Tyra and Lucas, represents a takeover of a larger installation presented just two weeks earlier using the same fascinating technique. The underlying philosophy of this installation, entitled "The Monumental", explored a profound paradox of time. On the one hand, we are enchanted by the most beautiful things and moments that are fleeting and limited: the blossoming flowers, the flickering candles and human life itself. But when something, like a monument, defies time and endures for generations, it develops a unique patina and carries the stories of the past, adding its own beauty and symbolism.

The aim was to represent this paradox in an art installation. In this artwork, the artists contrasted an enduring, monumental form with a fragile and patinated material. This created a visual representation of the tension between the permanent and the ephemeral, between the splendour of eternity and the beauty of change.
