The artist and philosopher Hannes Egger from Lana has designed the artwork ‘Picture Library’ for 7 new rooms. The ‘Picture Library’ in the rooms functions like a library. There are 9 pictures in each room, which guests can select, combine and ‘display’ as they wish, i.e. place on the ledge. In total, there are 21 different motifs spread across the seven rooms. This means that each picture appears three times, as do the ‘introductory’ pictures in the corridor.


All the pictures are highly communicative, they can be read as symbols whose content can be reinterpreted by each guest. The various possible arrangements result in different visual impulses in the room, but also different statements. The statements can be addressed to the world in general or to the ‘flatmates’ in the room. The picture rail can therefore also be a means of interpersonal communication in pictures.
